Enjoy a good old singsong?
1. In General
Risks associated with playing in, or supporting a ukulele group would generally be considered very low, so please don't use your instrument as a weapon. Some may say that we use our playing of ukuleles to torture others, but that would come under a different heading.
2. Equipment Handling and Storage
Setting up, breaking down and the storage of cases, bags and other items are probably the most common causes of trip hazard and inconvenience to others.
Setting up should be done promptly within the designated area following the directions of the organisers.
All bags, cases and personal items should be stored away from the performance and public area .
Music stands should be of a reasonably substantial construction to minimise being knocked over.
Instrument stands should either be incorporated into the music stand or separate, but in all cases out of each others way.
All electrical equipment should either have a current PAT test or be independently battery operated.
Wireless connections should be used wherever possible to minimise leads.
3. Safety
Areas to identify in the event of an incident:
Means of escape / fire exit
Fire extinguishers if available
Means of communication, landline, mobile signal.
4. External Events
Forecasts of inclement weather and high winds may result in the group cancelling the event. Otherwise, HUGs have a 6m x 3m substantial scissor frame gazebo which can be secured with both weights and guide lines (if required). To be erected by previously trained group members.
5. Persons affected by this policy
All volunteers / group members
6. Responsibilities
Any concerns or incidents should be reported to the session or event organisers. Please follow all directions and requests of the organisers.
